Aside from the main Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+, Samsung has also been offering a variant which comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The Galaxy S8+ with boosted RAM and memory was confirmed to arrive in South Korea and China a few weeks ago.

Now, Samsung has revealed that the Galaxy S8+ with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of memory will arrive to Hong Kong as well, according to a report. The unlocked variant was introduced during an event hosted in Hong Kong to announce the launch of Samsung Pay.

The 6GB of RAM Galaxy S8+ will be offered unlocked, which means that consumers can purchase the device and use it in a number of other countries. Samsung didn’t reveal the price of the variant, but the phone was sold for approximately $1,135 in South Korea.

The Galaxy S8+ with 6GB of RAM was quickly sold out in Korea

Most likely, Samsung will offer the 6GB of RAM variant with a free DeX Station, priced at $150, just like it did in the other two markets. The device was available only in Midnight Black color option and it was quite popular in South Korea. Just five days after pre-orders were launched, the 6GB of RAM Galaxy S8+ was sold out.

The initial stock of 150,000 units was sold quickly and customers who placed their order afterward, would receive the device at the end of May. The fact that Samsung is expanding availability for this version of the Galaxy S8+ means that there’s a slight chance that the variant could arrive to other markets as well.

This Galaxy S8+ model was intended mainly for the market in China, where competition is severe, as local smartphone makers offer powerful specs for very affordable prices and Samsung isn’t among the top sellers there. Samsung wishes to increase its market share in Asian markets, which is why it released the Galaxy S8+ with 6GB of RAM there.
