OnePlus is preparing to launch a new flagship smartphone and it seems that the device was just spotted in benchmark. A report reveals that OnePlus 5 scores higher than Samsung’s flagship, the Galaxy S8, and Sony’s premium smartphone, the Xperia XZ Premium.

OnePlus 5 managed to score 1963 in the single-core test and 6687 in the multi-core benchmark test, thus outscoring other flagships on the market. The screenshot image with OnePlus 5’s benchmark results reveals that the smartphone carries the code number A5000 and runs Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box.

It’s worth mentioning that there isn't a great difference between the three smartphones in terms of benchmark results, as the Galaxy S8 and Xperia XZ Premium managed to score 1929 and 1943 points in the single-core test, while the results were 6084 and 5824 in the multi-core test.

OnePlus 5 is said to run the Snapdragon 835 platform

All three devices run the Snapdragon 835 platform, so it’s no wonder that the results are so similar. Obviously, real-life performance may vary and it also depends on the RAM capacity inside the smartphone.

The Galaxy S8 and Xperia XZ Premium both feature 4GB of RAM, while the RAM capacity on the upcoming OnePlus 5 is rumored to reach 6GB or even 8GB. Other rumored specs include a 5.5-inch full HD or QHD AMOLED display and two 12MP lenses in the dual-camera setup on the back. Android Nougat should run on the new smartphone out of the box, together with OxygenOS on top.

The device will also come with USB Type-C port and its battery capacity should reach up to 4,000mAh. OnePlus 5 already confirmed the name of the upcoming smartphone, revealing that the company is skipping the number 4 in the retail name, which is considered unlucky in Asian countries. OnePlus is expected to announce the new flagship at the end of June, and more information will surely surface until then.
