After announcing a slew of Xperia smartphones during MWC in February this year, Sony is apparently working on a new device in the Xperia series, one that will come with a very appealing design, as official renders revealed.

The images show that Sony’s upcoming Xperia X Ultra will feature an Ultra Wide display of approximately 6.45 inches, according to MobileXpose. The phone’s main selling point will be the tall and wide screen, very similar to what we’ve seen on the LG G6 and Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and S8+.

However, if the rumored display size is accurate, then Sony’s new phone will have a bigger screen compared to Samsung’s 6.2 inches on the Galaxy S8+. Sadly, details about aspect ratio or screen resolution aren’t available at this point.

The images also show somewhat small bezels on the new phone, which will squeeze all of its internals inside a smaller body, although the actual size of the device wasn’t revealed. Still, the top bezels will be wide enough to accommodate the Sony logo and a 13MP selfie snapper, while the bottom will feature capacitive buttons for navigation.

IP68 certification and 4GB of RAM

The Xperia logo is visible on the back panel, while the main camera is said to have a capacity of 19MP and located at the top left corner. Other rumored specs for the new phone include IP68 certification, for protecting the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 platform inside against damages caused by water and dust.

RAM capacity is said to reach 4GB, similar to what we’ve seen inside many other Sony smartphones. Xperia X Ultra will draw power from a 3,050mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support, which will make sure that the phone charges four times faster than conventional charging.

When it comes to internal storage, the new Sony phone will most likely come with 64GB of onboard memory, with support for expanding storage to more using a microSD card. The new device will run Android 7.0 Nougat and incorporate dual speakers.

The renders reveal that Sony’s Xperia X Ultra will come in red and gray color variants, but Sony will most likely release up to three or four color options, as it usually happens.
