14 DAY TRIAL // It's pretty clear that the first Nokia-branded smartphones will be launched on the market next year, but when exactly it will happen we'll probably learn at Mobile World Trade Fair 2017 trade fair.
The Finnish company is likely to announce its first Android phones in a long while in late February, during MWC 2017. One of these devices could be the long time rumored Nokia D1C, which was supposed to be a smartphone, a tablet, and then a smartphone again.
Today, new info about Nokia's unannounced D1C smartphone surfaced and claims, once again, that this is actually an Android handset that the Finnish company plans to introduce next year.
Obviously, the smartphone won't be launched with the D1C name, but this seems to be its codename, so we'll refer to it as Nokia D1C.
Well, it appears that a new report coming from a reliable source claims the D1C sports a 5.5-inch display, not a 4.8 or 13.8-inch one, as GFXBench reported in a previous report due to a wrong scaling factor that's been applied by the user.
A mid-range smartphone with some high-end specs
Despite the fact that the Nokia D1C comes with a 5.5-inch display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution, this isn't a high-end phone at all. Considering the rumored specs leaked until now, we can safely assume this is a mid-range smartphone that will ship with Android 7.0 Nougat on board.
On the inside, the D1C is said to pack a 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, an Adreno 505 graphics processing unit, and 3GB of RAM.
Also, the phone will come with either 16GB or 32GB of internal memory, but we believe Nokia will add microSD card slot for memory expansion, too. A 16-megapixel rear-facing camera will be included as well, along with an 8-megapixel secondary camera in the front.
The D1C will be built, designed and sold in collaboration with HMD Global, the company that bought the right to release Nokia smartphones for the next 10 years.
