14 DAY TRIAL // HMD Global unveiled a slew of smartphones and feature phones this year, including Nokia 3, 5, 6 and a new iteration of Nokia 3310. And a company official has recently announced that a new “set” of Nokia-branded devices will arrive by the end of Q2.
Nokia 9 is expected to be a premium smartphone with a rumored price that could reach about $699 in the US or €749 in Europe, but the price could differ depending on the market. Moreover, it’s expected to come with a 5.5-inch OLED display with 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution and 2:1 aspect ratio.
Concept images depicting Nokia 9 were posted by Phone Designer, showing what the smartphone could look like with a bezel-less display and a thickness comparable to Apple’s iPhone 7. Although, the concept is based on the designer’s imagination, a bezel-less display is likely on the high-end Nokia-branded phone.
Dual-lens camera setup on the back
Moving on, the concept images show the 22MP dual-lens camera setup on the back of the Nokia 9, possibly with Carl Zeiss sensors. The selfie snapper in the front is said to feature a 12MP sensor, while the designer also placed two speakers in the front.
A previous concept image of the Nokia 9 showed a physical home button in the front, while this one only reveals two buttons on the side, leaving us to believe that the designer was aiming towards virtual capacitive navigation buttons.
Nokia 9 will surely be a premium smartphone, since the device is rumored to come with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It’s said to also run the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 platform and draw power from a 3,800mAh battery with Quick Charge 4.0 support.
HMD Global could provide Nokia 9 with IP68 certification and run Android 7.1.2 Nougat. Aside from the Nokia 9, HMD Global also intends to announce two mid-range Nokia-branded smartphones and possibly offer a program for customers to bring in their old devices.
