Intex and Jolla have teamed up for the launch of the Aqua Fish, a new smartphone powered by Sailfish OS 2.0. The first prototype was shown last summer in India, but no details on release have been shared at that time.

Today, the Indian OEM announced at MWC 2016 that the Aqua Fish will finally make its debut in India in April. There's no word on price yet, but the smartphone shouldn't cost more than $250 outright.

According to a new report, the Aqua Fish will be available for purchase in two color options: black and orange. Additional colors may be added, but at launch, customers will be able to choose between these two.

The dual-SIM Intex Aqua Fish will ship with Sailfish OS 2.0 and will be able to run Android applications on the fly.

The new version of Sailfish brings many improvements and new features, including Super Apps that pulls local content (Snapdeal, Gaana) and promote it across from the homescreen.

A mid-range smartphone with catchy design

Specs-wise, the Aqua Fish places itself at the mid-end tier. The smartphone sports a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution.

On the inside, the device packs a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage that can be expanded via miroSD card slot up to 32GB.

At the back, the phone features an 8-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, while in the front there's a modest 2-megapixel selfie camera.

When it comes to connectivity, the Aqua Fish is an all-rounder. The phone offers 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB 2.0 and GPS with AGPS support.

Last but not least, Intex confirmed the Aqua Fish will be powered by a 2,500 mAh battery, but it did not offer information on talk and standby time.
