The first software update for the iPhone's software will be "arriving shortly", says Apple's Vice President of iPod Product Marketing, Greg Joswiak. The upgrade will try to solve most of the problems reported on the device up to this point.

A large number of people, made up of hackers and not only, have struggled to find all flaws in the iPhone. It was probably the fact that Apple presented this device as being a wonder that has produced such determination in many people to demount its mythical status. Bugs found on the software have added up and many of them have been reported to Apple.

The company is currently working on finding solutions to solve as many of the reported issues. It looks like the iPhone will receive instant messaging with integrated image sending and "social networking," MMS support and GPS enhancements. There will also be new widgets, peer-to-peer applications, including chat, picture messaging and social networking solutions. There is no word on integration of Microsoft Exchange up to this point, though.

Aside from the upgrades, people also expect some cheaper versions of the iPhone coming from Apple. The company has yet to confirm any of these rumors, which leaves the ground open to suppositions until official statements arrive. One thing is sure at this point. Apple is working on ways to improve their only phone as to bring it closer to perfection, after many people proved it to be far from that.

One more aspect which people expect to receive news on is the 3G upgrade as the iPhone will hit new markets in the future. The US 3G network is a shaky one which barely needed such performances, as it couldn't offer it at top levels. It is not the case with other areas, which could very much appreciate to see such an upgrade for the iPhone.
