As Samsung is focusing more and more of its attention on the phablet segment, details and images on upcoming devices in the Galaxy Note series continue to surface. The latest refer to the specs of a more affordable Galaxy Note 6 version, dubbed ‘Lite.’

A post on Weibo, shows that the yet-unnamed Lite version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 will come with a 5.8-inch screen, 4GB of RAM and will be powered by a Snapdragon 820 processor. The configuration isn’t as powerful as that of the “true” Samsung Galaxy Note 6, which will pack a whooping 6GB of RAM and Snapdragon 823 processor.

The major difference between the two versions will be most likely visible in the display department. Both devices will come with a 5.8-inch screen but the Lite version will have FHD (1920x1080 pixels) resolution, which is considerably lower than QHD (2560x1440 pixels) resolution expected to be featured on Samsung’s phablet flagship.

The Snapdragon 820 processor should be enough for using the phablet’s capabilities to the fullest, considering that even Samsung’s flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S7 Edge, sported the same chipset. In the RAM department, it seems that Samsung decided against an upgrade from the Galaxy Note 5 and settled for 4GB.

Camera capabilities might stay the same as on Galaxy Note 6

Earlier this year, it was rumored that the Galaxy Note 6 would come with a 12MP rear-facing camera, the same as the Galaxy S7 that was recently launched. Front camera could be 5MP, but Samsung still has time to surprise us with a stronger configuration.

It is believed that Samsung is currently testing flat and edge-screen prototypes for the Galaxy Note 6, which will also come with USB Type-C port. It’s unclear why Samsung would want to launch variants of the Galaxy Note 6, other than to make it accessible to a wider range of consumers.

The release date of the Galaxy Note 6 and Lite version have yet to be established, although rumors say that the two devices could be unveiled sometime in the second half of the year.
