After taking the Xperia X1 to Europe almost two weeks ago, Sony Ericsson has now decided that India would be a favorable market for one of its most popular models. This phone brings an elegant combination of multimedia features and web browsing experience to the newly chosen receivers.

Besides the pretty relevant feature that it can work as a camcorder as well, the Indian version of the X1 packs a touchscreen interface, high speed HSDPA/HSUPA, A-GPS and Wi-Fi integrated. Expandable memory, voice dialing, and multi-tasking abilities are also included. It uses a 3.2 Megapixel autofocus camera for photographing or recording, while, thanks to its Windows Mobile 6.1 OS, it gives you access to all the software incorporated using the Microsoft Today panel.

In addition, Xperia X1 features several other panels, such as the Sony Ericsson panel for Java applications and RSS news reader, the 3D Fish panel, an FM Radio panel, the SlideShow panel giving you access to your latest photos or recordings, the Multimedia Experience panel, which helps you easily manage your multimedia files and the music player, and finally the Google panel, obviously, for Google applications. Furthermore, it's complete with a 3'' VGA display, optical joystick navigation, the 4-way key plus the Play Now feature for the Music Library and for downloading songs.

The Xperia X1 will be available in some markets all over India, with a price tag set at about Rs. 44,500. This new entry shows that Indian mobile markets are truly heading in the right direction and, hopefully, future developments will be at least just as positive as those so far. Even if some might consider the price a bit out of reach for many Indian clients, this is the right way to determine whether Indian users wish to have the opportunity to enjoy all kinds of advanced mobile devices.
