Xperia PLAY Enjoys 150 Optimized Games

Sony Ericsson’s Xperia PLAY smartphone is slowly turning into what it was meant to be from day one: a gaming powerhouse.

It already had the capabilities, but there were only a few titles available specifically for it at launch, something that changed significantly in the meantime.

Now, the handset enjoys a number of no less than 150 optimized titles aimed at all type of gamers and including all genres, the mobile phone maker unveiled at Gamescom in Cologne.

Sony Ericsson also came to the event with some of these games loaded on their mobile phone, and showcased them to the public.

Among the titles announced at previewed at Gamescom we can count new releases from Gameloft, EA's Need for Speed Hot Pursuit and Dead Space, along with the Reckless Getaway driving game that Polarbit released for the Android platform.

Recently, the company also announced the availability to other new games for the Xperia PLAY smartphone, including Minecraft-Pocket Edition from Mojang, and FIFA 2012 from EA.

For a limited period of time, users interested in these games will find them available in the Android Market only as long as they own an Xperia PLAY smartphone. The rest of users will simply have to wait for the exclusivity period to end before being able to access the titles.

At the same time, the mobile phone maker announced that their new developer programme “Stand Out” has started to bring new, innovative content on the Android-based mobile phone.

Thus, the company decided to host some of the independent development talents at their booth.

Gamescom is taking place between August 17 to 21, and those who are in Cologne, Germany during the time frame should pay a visit to Sony Ericsson’s booth to learn more on these games.

The list of new titles announced and showcased on Xperia PLAY includes, among other games:

- Dead Space, Need For Speed Hot Pursuit and FIFA12 by EA
- Reckless Getaway, Reckless Racing 2 and Tanks by Polarbit
- Let's Golf 3 by Gameloft
- Townsmen 6, Guns & Glory WW2 and Clouds and Sheep by HandyGame
- They Need To Be Fed by YoYo Games
- Lame Castle by Be-Rad Entertainment
- Hyperlight by Catfishblues Games
- Diversion and Crazy Snowboard by Ezone PTY LTD
- Gibs & Gore Micronytes
- Protoxide and Battle Boats 3D by Herocraft
- EVAC HD and Radient HD by Hexage
- PewPew 2 by Jean-Francois Geyelin
- Stellar Escape by Orange Agenda
- Jumpy, INC and Meganoid by Orange Pixel
- Death Worm by PlayCreek LLC
- No Gravity by Real Tech VR
- Crusade of Destiny by Divide Arts
- Desert Winds by Southend Interactive

there needs to be a caal of duty for xperia play

while there is no " call of duty " there are some good fps games out there for the xperia .. gamelofts , modern combat series( three of them one just came out this week ) , and EA's battlefeild are just a few to mention. and even halo fans have NOVA and NOVA 2 .. ..

i have really loved having my xperia play it is good to see so many of the games .. going twords the phone .. thanks for all the support 8)
