The promotion expires just two days before the new SKU is released

It didn't take long for retailers like EB Games and Gamestop to see a good deal in the launch of the Xbox 360 Elite Microsoft's prepping a release. Thus, they've arranged for Xboxers to be able to trade in their old machines and get a lower pricing on the Elite when it launches. Of course the Elite's price will stay the same if you go over to the arcade and play non stop because you don't have your Xbox/Xbox 360 anymore.

Here's the deal, as 1UP heard from the two retailers: the Xbox 360 Premium, with all its original accessories, will save you $250 on the Elite, the Xbox 360 Core, all accessories included too, $200, while the original Xbox, will save you a mere 50 bucks. Makes you wonder if it's worth trading it in or keeping it to run movies on it.

There's a little problem though: if by any chance you would like to trade-in your system but also keep saved game data or precious content on your old Xbox 360's HDD, you may not get the chance. Leaving aside that it's a lot of fuss just moving data on to the Elite's storage drive, the last day when you can trade-in your system is two days before the Elite's launch. Retailers told 1UP that the promotion expires on April 27 (that's next Friday).

Oh and again, keep in mind that the Elite will set you back $480 while its massive 120 gig hard drive is sold separately, for $180. If it's worth the fuss or not, that's your choice alone, but my advice is get the Elite if you only need the extra storage space, otherwise HDMI and IPTV don't sound so out-of-this-world.
