Windows Phone 7 Launch Confirmed for October 11th

Redmond-based software giant Microsoft is expected to launch its new Windows phone 7 operating system on October 11th during an event in New York. Rumors on this emerged a few times over the past few weeks, but now all seems to have been confirmed via a Microsoft's website.

An event set to take place on Monday, October 11, 2010 3:00 PM - Monday, October 11, 2010 4:30 PM Eastern Time (US & Canada) in New York City is where the Windows Phone 7 would be launched officially, the software giant notes on its website.

Here's what Hemang Patel, Windows Phone Solutions Strategist, Microsoft Corporation, notes on the said web page (vi aEngadget):

"I would like to personally invite you to attend an exclusive Windows Phone 7 Worldwide Launch event for our customers:

We will provide an insider's look at Windows Phone 7 and the Microsoft experience it brings to life."

Previous rumors suggested that Microsoft also prepared a London event for the launch of Windows Phone 7, and it seems that it won't leave the United States outside of this either.

On top of that, another interesting detail that can be spotted on the said web page is that wireless carrier T-Mobile will be present at the event, and not AT&T.

We already knew that T-Mobile would launch Windows Phone 7 devices, but some of the latest rumors on the matter suggested that AT&T would be an exclusive carrier for the new OS version, and not just a premier operator.

Attendees at the said event will get “hands on for an exclusive showing of T-Mobile powered Windows Phone 7 devices and an early preview of some of our applications that will be available for launch.”

All in all, it seems that things have been already nailed down, and that Windows Phone 7 will be officially launched on October 11th, just as rumored before. Keep an eye on this space for additional details.
