Not too late, Iwata says

Nintendo is one of the biggest companies in gaming today, thanks to its permanent innovation and the fact that it manages to market its products extremely well, no matter how strange they may look or feel.

But with the recently announced Wii Vitality Sensor, which was introduced to gamers at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) conference, the PR department will have a lot of hard work ahead in order to make it attractive for gamers.

However, this doesn't mean that it doesn't have a high sales potential, at least according to Nintendo president Satoru Iwata, who revealed during a recent financial briefing that, even though there were many doubts in regard to the new peripheral, it would attract the market.

“Before Wii Fit launched, everyone doubted how well it could sell. As for Wii Vitality Sensor, I think it will face similar doubts as to whether such a product will sell well in the video game market,” he said. “Of course no one can tell how people respond to it before the launch. We understand everyone wants to enjoy a vibrant lifestyle, so I believe if the product could support that desire, it would make a large impact in society.”

When asked when we would get our fingers checked by the sensor, the executive revealed, “We would like to deliver the actual product not too late in the year [to come]. As I have mentioned, last-minute polishing is crucial for developing video games, so please understand that we'll need to refrain from commenting on an exact release date.”

We've already heard other key Nintendo representatives reveal that confidence is needed with the new sensor and that it will contain many surprises, so it seems that, even though naysayers are scratching their heads, Nintendo is focusing on the future and won't let anyone stand in its way.
