Palm announced at the beginning of the ongoing year not only the new high-end mobile phone called Pre, but also a new mobile operating system for it, namely the WebOS. Some of the features of the platform have already been unveiled to the world, yet you must agree that every new photo that shows it in action can make hearts beat faster, and so do the newly spotted ones.

A quick look over the screenshots that are now available will also offer you a better picture of what the handset itself will be able to provide users with, and there is an image showing Bluetooth, calculator, calendar, camera, contacts, date and time, device info, doc view, all of which can be found under Preferences>software.

Moreover, there’s Microsoft Exchange, Facebook and Google accounts for Synergy, as well as Outgoing Mail Server authentication. Another shot shows the ring tones and volume, one features Google maps, while there is also one with the battery/Wi-Fi overlaid. Though the new pictures come from an emulator, one would have to agree that the platform has the power to impress.

And while you feast your eyes with the screenshots, you should also think about the fact that you can easily win a Palm handset while also having the possibility to play around with the Pre, as the company announced it was taking applications for a new “Real Palm Phone Reviewer” promotional campaign.

And here is a chance to win a Pre for free, while also having the opportunity to get to know it better beforehand, as PreThinking says that Palm's Jon Zilber stated, “we'll work to provide Real Reviewers with the most current phones that work on their carrier (or provide service on an alternate carrier). That will include the Palm Pre when available.”

Those interested in joining the campaign can find more info on it on the Palm Blog.
