WORKABOUT PRO Available in U.S. to Make Mobile Working Easier

The UMTS/HSDPA-powered rugged wireless device is brought by AT&T and Psion Teklogix

AT&T Inc. together with Psion Teklogix announced that WORKABOUT PRO, the UMTS/HSDPA-powered rugged wireless device created by Psion Teklogix, is available on AT&T's BroadbandConnect and EDGE networks. This is the first time when such a
device is introduced to customers from North America.

WORKABOUT PRO is a mobile computing device that will help employees collect and interact with data regardless of where they are. This is done via the AT&T Broadband Connect network that currently reaches more than 165 important metropolitan areas in U.S., being based on the global 3G standard. Any type of data can be transmitted with WORKABOUT PRO while on the move, this leads to increased productivity as well as high operational efficiency and flexibility. Moreover, the UMTS/HSDPA network managed by AT&T provides high data flow and speeds so that mobile communications can be conducted outdoor as well as indoor.

The Senior Director-Enterprise Solutions for AT&T's wireless unit, Laura Johnson, said: "With the AT&T-powered WORKABOUT PRO, our customers now have an industrial-strength solution for their mobile workers that gives users fast, 3G-grade access to a wider array of higher bandwidth applications while withstanding the rigors of a variety of harsh environments. This will allow their employees in the field to get more done more quickly, which translates into a higher level of customer service."

WORKABOUT PRO can run under Microsoft Windows Mobile 5, Microsoft Pocket PC 2003 SE or Microsoft Windows CE.NET 4.2 operating systems. Several simultaneously radio options are supported, like GPS, WPAN (Bluetooth®), GPS, WWAN (GSM/GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA) and WLAN (802.11b/g).
