Mobile phone carrier Vodafone UK has just announced that it plans on adding the white version of the Blackberry Torch to its offering in the near future, and has already put the device on its coming soon page.

The BlackBerry Torch 9800 smartphone was announced officially in summer last year, when it landed on shelves as the first BlackBerry to sport a sliding design.

Launched on shelves all dressed up in black, the smartphone was made available for purchase in other colors as well, including white and red, in some markets around the world, and now the white flavor would be on its way to Vodafone UK too.

The specs and features lists of the new device should be similar with those available for the black version, with the new color being the only major change it would bring to shelves.

The BlackBerry Torch would be powered by RIM's BlackBerry 6 OS, while putting together a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen display with a QWERTY keyboard.

The specifications list of this device includes an optical trackpad and backlit slide-out BlackBerry keyboard, support for high-speed 3G (UMTS/HSDPA) networks, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi (b/g/n) connectivity, and built-in GPS for location-based applications and geo-tagging.

At the same time, the mobile phone sports a 5-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus, image stabilisation, scene modes and zoom and video recording.

Moreover, its users would enjoy 4 GB of internal storage, complemented by a microSD/SDHD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space (a 4GB card included in the package right from the start).

For the time being, no specific info on when would the white torch become available for purchase at Vodafone UK emerged, nor on the price tag it might feature.

However, the wireless carrier confirmed that the new device would be released on pay monthly contracts, and that there will be no Pay As You Go option for it.
