Instead of a silent launch, Pantech's Jest 2 is surely getting the headlines for the next few days, but the only interesting feature of the slider seems to be the quad-band support.
According to Verizon, Pantech Jest 2 will be available online beginning September 29 for $79.99 (about 59 EUR) after a $50 mail-in rebate with a new two-year agreement.
Although Pantech Jest 2 is a feature-phone, the handset comes with a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard that allows user to type faster and easier.
In addition, the phone is pre-loaded with Opera Mini web browser, allowing for a smoother browsing experience while on the move.
Furthermore, Pantech Jest 2 has a small 2.4-inch LCD display and sports a mediocre 2-megapixel camera with video recording capabilities.
As we already mentioned, the Jest 2 is global-ready and is delivered with quad-band support, which allows customers to use voice and data services in more than 200 countries.
It is also worth mentioning that the handset features a dedicated task bar key that allows users to access quickly various Verizon services, as well as dialing, favorites, recent calls, messaging, music, pictures, contacts and tools.
The phone offers users the full range of of messaging options, including text, picture, video and voice messaging, along with mobile instant messaging.
There's no word on the amount of storage, but users can expand the internal memory via microSD card up to 32GB.
Bluetooth support for headset, hands-free, stereo, phonebook access, 3.5 mm headset jack, object push for vCard and file transfer are also among the strong points of the slider.
Obviously, Pantech Jest 2 is pre-loaded with several Verizon services, including VZ Navigator, which provides audible turn-by-turn directions to points of interest, as well as V CAST Tones that allows users to download ringtones and ringback tones.
