Beauty and minimalism in a nutshell

Damn you Sony Ericsson! Probably if SE would be a person I would seriously think of writing his/her name on top of my blacklist! Don't worry you guys, I won't go there (as long as you come back here and read what we write for you :) ).

Why am I so angry and why would I blacklist SE? Mainly because whatever they do, they keep annoying me with each passing by! We heard they will release a phenomenal cellphone that will surpass everything we ever imagined. What did we get? The Sony Ericsson AI, a good phone but not even close to what they have promised us!

Almost on every handset they are releasing these days they keep sticking that unusable joystick on top of the keypad! What have we done to deserve that? Haven't we been good and bought everything they launched and contained the CyberShot and Walkman tags?

Despite them not being very nice to us, there are some people out there that probably get all the sweetness the SE team is capable of. The Japanese using the KDDI by au services know what I am talking about.

The one device which probably is the definition of beauty and minimalism (at least in the eyes of a guy with a "Japanese cellphones" fetish like me :) ), the Sony Ericsson W51S, will only be available on the KDDI network and has been probably manufactured in tandem with the au design team. That is a possible explanation for the missing joystick that has given nightmares to lots of SE users out there and the total lack of decorations on the phone's case.

The W51S is a slim and slick handset with some extreme good looking LEDs on the front cover that will light up to show an incoming call, message or even an alarm event. It features a vibrant, RealityMAX enabled, 2.7 inch 260k colors 16:9 wide screen TFT BRAVIA display, a 2 megapixel digital camera with CMOS sensor, a RDS enabled radio, 120 MB of built-in memory, an MS Pro Duo memory expansion card slot that can go up to 4 GB, Lismo music service (the equivalent of iTunes in Japan), a talk time of almost 4 hours, a security feature that will enable you to remotely lock and delete the data stored on the handset via the Internet, Input function POBox Pro, Advanced Wnn and Infrared connectivity.

Do you want anything else? Maybe somebody should talk to Sony Ericsson and give them a hint we also like what they're doing with their cellphones in Japan! This way, we'll probably also be able to get a little closer to the SE Japanese sweetness that, for now, seems so inaccessible.

If you are Japanese and you're still reading this, you should know the W51S comes in black, silver or pink color. Unfortunately, I don't know any details about the price or the release date this handset will have but, if you understand Japanese and ONLY if you understand Japanese, you could go over to the Sony Ericsson Japanese website and tell us at least when it will be available.

Maybe some of us will go on a trip just to see it in action doing its LED magic :).
