Grand Theft Auto is one of the most popular video game franchises out there, with fans all across the world still playing a lot of titles from the series made by Rockstar. The latest iteration, Grand Theft Auto IV, took the whole gaming industry to a new level in terms of realism, gameplay and story, collecting a lot of Game of the Year awards from various websites and ceremonies.

Now GTA IV has just received its first downloadable episode, entitled The Lost and Damned, which is part of a two-episode deal the Rockstar team made with Microsoft, to deliver exclusively on the Xbox 360. This new content will shift the focus from Niko Bellic, the main character of the original game, and place it on a member of biker gang The Lost, Johnny Klebitz. Filled with new adventures, missions and mini-games, the DLC generated a massive amount of downloads.

But besides the number of purchases, the DLC also spawned something very awkward with European owners of GTA IV, who have been eagerly anticipating these new adventures that will take place in Liberty City. It seems that after downloading and installing the episode, the game would auto-censor itself, removing the pools of blood or camera angles that were very revealing of certain actions performed in-game.

Rockstar was quick to respond to these problems and has announced that the DLC episode isn't to blame here, but the patch that it also includes and which was made for the original release of GTA IV. It would seem that this title update is actually to blame and the error generated will be fixed shortly, reveals a Rockstar representative: “We are aware of an error with the latest GTA IV title update and are confident the issue will be fixed within the next few hours. We apologize to our fans for any inconvenience caused.”

Hopefully things will get back to normal and European users will get back their pools of blood and naughty camera angles as soon as possible. Until then we can all enjoy the fun experience of The Lost and Damned.
