The Brown family is currently being investigated for felony bigamy but, as promised, TLC stands by it even if they’re to go to jail: by renewing the Browns’ reality show for a second season.

As we also informed you on several past occasions, the Browns came to the attention of Utah authorities after TLC aired the first episode of their reality show, “Sister Wives.”

Telling the story of Kody Brown and how he managed life with 3 wives – plus a fiancée, whom he married in the meantime – the first episode of the show got over 2.3 million people glued to their TV screens.

It’s no wonder then that TLC is so determined to keep the show on air for as long as possible, perhaps even when the Browns are sentenced to jail – assuming that ever comes to happen.

“They’re still in the middle of a criminal investigation – but the polygamist family featured on ‘Sister Wives’ has officially agreed to do another season of their TLC reality show,” TMZ reports.

“The Kody family – 21 members strong – drew the eye of Utah officials right after their show debuted earlier this year,” the e-zine also says.

“Authorities completed an investigation and turned the case over to the County Attorney... who will ultimately decide whether or not to prosecute the family for bigamy,” TMZ notes.

According to details made available by the network, the second season of the show will debut in March – but there’s no word yet on whether it will also include footage with the Browns’ recent legal troubles.

Their best defense right now, in case charges will be brought against them, is that, though bigamy is illegal in all states, it’s rarely pursued in the court of law unless other crimes (such as child abuse) are suspected.

With the Browns, there’s no such thing. Moreover, their attorney also claims they’re being singled out because they’re famous, under false pretenses that their reality show “glamorizes” bigamy.

And this is the last thing that Kody Brown wants to do, as he said when the investigation started.
