TLC orders second season of “Sister Wives,” will debut in spring

The Brown family is currently being investigated for felony bigamy but, as promised, TLC stands by it even if they’re to go to jail: by renewing the Browns’ reality show for a second season.

As we also informed you on several past occasions, the Browns came to the attention of Utah authorities after TLC aired the first episode of their reality show, “Sister Wives.”

Telling the story of Kody Brown and how he managed life with 3 wives – plus a fiancée, whom he married in the meantime – the first episode of the show got over 2.3 million people glued to their TV screens.

It’s no wonder then that TLC is so determined to keep the show on air for as long as possible, perhaps even when the Browns are sentenced to jail – assuming that ever comes to happen.

“They’re still in the middle of a criminal investigation – but the polygamist family featured on ‘Sister Wives’ has officially agreed to do another season of their TLC reality show,” TMZ reports.

“The Kody family – 21 members strong – drew the eye of Utah officials right after their show debuted earlier this year,” the e-zine also says.

“Authorities completed an investigation and turned the case over to the County Attorney... who will ultimately decide whether or not to prosecute the family for bigamy,” TMZ notes.

According to details made available by the network, the second season of the show will debut in March – but there’s no word yet on whether it will also include footage with the Browns’ recent legal troubles.

Their best defense right now, in case charges will be brought against them, is that, though bigamy is illegal in all states, it’s rarely pursued in the court of law unless other crimes (such as child abuse) are suspected.

With the Browns, there’s no such thing. Moreover, their attorney also claims they’re being singled out because they’re famous, under false pretenses that their reality show “glamorizes” bigamy.

And this is the last thing that Kody Brown wants to do, as he said when the investigation started.

For the next season, they should choose a new polygamous family. I don't know what's left of the Brown's personal story, other than their new-found legal troubles, to sustain interest from viewers.

In my opinion, the general public is interested in the lifestyle more than they are in the actual family. A window into the world of polygamy is fascinating to the average person and introducing them to a new family each season will help TLC maintain, or even improve, their ratings.

Bring on season 2, but show us a new family so we can see for ourselves that there really are people who choose this way of life, the benefits and problems they have, and to prove to us that the Brown's aren't just a one-of-a-kind odd-ball bunch of societal misfits!

oh my gosh, kody is the biggest narcissist i have ever seen in my life. he's so gross. the way he flings his balding head around to prove he still has hair is disgusting. how those women can put up with that pig is beyond me. it's hysterical!!

My wife will watch the show. I refuse I think that the children should be taken away from all of these idots and they should have to pay fo their upbringing without ever seeing them again. They are a bunch of idots and the courts should step in and take care of them to the full extent of the law.

That is a sick way of life.. GOD made us to be with one person... to love only one in your life is way better than all the problems they have in there relationships... I love my husband and if I were to share him with anyone I'd rather be single... I don't think I would be happy to see my hubby with anyone else but me... cuz I'm his one and only. As for kids I have stepkids they love me and there mom (who is in another country) just the same . We all have a roll in our kids lives. As mothers and father. But the thought of me being in the same house with his ex is not right. ONE HOUSE,ONE HUSBAND,AND ONE WIFE. Is a happy life ...no worries, and no problems...

I wish the best for the brown family. While I don't agree with bigamy, I do believe in everyones right. And this is there right. Anyone ever hear of the separtion of church and state? Yes, that one little line that our country was founded on... There marriages were in the CHURCH the state and federal government needs to stay the hell out of these people lives!!

If it is against the law...and it is, why the debate on prosecuting the case? Just curious.

To single them out, when it happens everyday is wrong. I love the show it makes you look at the life style in a very diffrent light. I look up to the Brown women, they juggle and deal with obstacles in life that I couldnt and I have one child and Im an only wife. lol I hope that they do come back for season 2, I wanna know how Robyn and Kody are handling the marraige transition.

It's their business how the Browns live their lives the state should stay out of it.

While I don't agree with the Browns' lifestyle, I believe that everyone has a right to live how they want, as long as its not putting anyone's lives in danger(especially the children) and it doesn't seem like it is. As far as the Actual marrige part, they made it clear that only one pair's (Cody and Meri) marrige is recognized by the state. The other three are through relgion and church, all parties are willing participants, they're all adults, and they are providing for their children. What more can you ask for?
Even though its a misunderstood lifestyle; its theirs. My opionion is the state should put its interest in other more important matters.
