iPhone 5 to be released via more wireless carriers in the US

More confirmation on the upcoming availability of an iPhone model on the airwaves of Sprint in the US emerged recently, via two separate sources, suggesting that it might not be too long before the wireless carrier decides to make it all official.

iPhone 5, the next version of Apple's mobile device, should be released in the next couple of weeks in the United States, and Sprint will join the group of carriers set to launch it. AT&T and Verizon were already in the boat, and some suggested that T-Mobile might be there as well.

Following a series of unconfirmed rumors on the upcoming release of an iPhone model at Sprint in the fall of 2011, new details on the matter emerged recently, suggesting that things have been already carved in stone.

Apparently, Sprint “repeaters” are being installed at The Domain, and one of them will be installed inside the Apple store there.

Clearly, that has to have something to do with the expected arrival of the iPhone on Sprint's network, although nothing is official for the time being.

But there's more to it, as Sprint's retail partners are also gearing up for the launch of this device, including Best Buy, which confirmed it via a leaked document.

What's even more interesting to note is the fact that the Apple iPhone 5 for Sprint might become available for pre-order as soon as this week, at least this is what BGR, which brought the leaked document to the Internet, claims.

When made available for purchase at Sprint, the iPhone will pack CDMA connectivity, yet it seems that 4G capabilities might be included there as well, though it remains to be seen whether it would be an LTE-capable handset, or a WiMAX-based one.

All in all, it appears that Sprint's customers might soon have a hard time choosing a smartphone on their carrier's airwaves, with the iPhone 5 joining high-end Android-based smartphones there.
