Deliver various enhancements and new features to its users

A new software update is now available for download for the owners of an LG Optimus S smartphone on Sprint's network, one that will bring the OS on this device up to Android version 2.3. The new software will be delivered to all users as an over-the-air update, and should arrive on all Optimus S devices it the following 10 days or so, Sprint also announced.

In addition to bringing along the Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS flavor, the software update also packs a series of other enhancements into the mix, coming from the wireless carrier itself.

These improvements include:

- Volume adjustment from handset when backlight is off and in a Bluetooth call - Initiation of a 3-way call in certain markets

As expected, there are various new features and improvements that the Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) OS flavor will bring along on handsets too.

As soon as the LG Optimus S has been upgraded to the new platform release, users will be able to enjoy on their devices features like: - Updated color scheme (includes darker notification bar and black-based menus) - New on-screen keyboard (supports multi-touch input and a smart auto-correction function) - Improved cut-paste functionality - New integrated download application for ease in accessing downloaded files - Updated camera application - Power management and task killer applications

The new software update will arrive on smartphones as version LS670ZVH, and users can search of it through going to Menu > Settings > About phone > System Updates. If the update is available, users are encouraged to download and install it.

Before proceeding with the installation, LG Optimus S owners might also consider backing up all data on their devices, so as to make sure that no important files are lost in case something goes wrong during the process.
