Ubisoft has finally decided to shed some light on the Splinter Cell HD Trilogy that will arrive for the PlayStation 3 in the following months, as well as release a few screenshots of the remastered games.

Ubisoft is continuing to remake its older titles in high definition for current-generation consoles, and has already launched games like Beyond Good & Evil HD or the Prince of Persia HD Trilogy.

The French company has now released the first details about the upcoming Splinter Cell HD Trilogy, which will include the original Splinter Cell game, as well as Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, all of which were originally released for older platforms like the PlayStation 2, Xbox or PC.

According to Ubisoft, the development team started off with the PC versions of the aforementioned games, as they provided the best basis for upgrade, and added things like a high-definition resolution of 720p, trophies as well as support for stereoscopic 3D, provided you have a compatible 3DTV connected to your PlayStation 3.

Sadly, while all that may sound pretty attractive, Ubisoft has admitted that the online components of the games, including the multiplayer or cooperative modes in Chaos Theory, won't be included in the remastered games.

"Unfortunately, the online part of the original games won't be included," said Ubisoft PR coordinator Alex Monney on the PlayStation Blog.

Still, the company is quite confident that a lot of PlayStation 3 owners will be thrilled to once again hop in the stealth shoes of Sam Fisher and go through his unique adventures once more in all three games.

"We believe all these along with the original gameplay mechanics will make the Splinter Cell HD a nice treat for PS3 owners. These games will be available in a Trilogy Pack on Blu-Ray, and individually on PSN," Monney added.

A release date has yet to be revealed, sadly, so Splinter Cell fans will still have to make due with the screenshots below.
