Coming in a new Spider Man game?

Radical Entertainment has been working hard recently. Its upcoming Prototype videogame is set to launch this summer and, after a delay, the free running title featuring a morphing protagonist looks really interesting.

But Radical might have even bigger plans once it ships Prototype, as several sources have been quoted as saying that the developer is preparing to create a Spider Man videogame, which will probably be scheduled for 2010.

The sources have talked to the Cut Scene blog hosted by Variety and they seem pretty sure of their information. Radical Entertainment is one of the two development studios that survived after the Activision Blizzard merger, and was allowed to complete its projects, which, in the case of Radical, meant launching Prototype.

A Spider Man game would not be a radical shift (pun intended) for the developer. After all, Prototype is open world and one would expect a Spider Man game to be the same. The protagonist in Prototype, Alex Mercer, is moving through New York quickly, running up on buildings, leaping to catch helicopters in mid flights and turning into the various people that he meets and absorbs. Spider Man is also swinging through New York and the main difference is the way he uses his webs to do so.

The developer will probably use the same game engine while adding some polish. Radical also has experience working with super hero intellectual properties as it has created The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction. The last Spider Man videogame, Web of Shadow, was released last year and was created by Shaba.

Activision is also saying that a new Transformers videogame, not linked with the movie series, is in development at the High Moon studio, with a 2010 release date attached. The studio previously worked on the Bourne Conspiracy title. Another Transformers game is set to be launched alongside a new movie in the series.

Marvel now is DISNEY's thing,. a much bigger, stable company. With the success of ARKHAM really opening the doors to what I see as the future of video games. Warner bros, finally treating BATMAN video game, somewhat maturely, like a movie. It is possible for Disney to buy back rights to SPIDERMAN. Just as Zenimax did for ID SOFTWARE RAGE. The major advantage I see in media owning video games, is their discount marketing and advertising channels. My guess for the future of the games segment, will be contrary to EA's media releases. I do not believe that social network gaming and NATAL are the money of the future. Fewer better games, with much larger budgets, as well as a growing 2nd teer (less expensive) but highly profitable 2D/3D hyrbid scene (Braid,Trine), and STOP MOTION ADVERTISEMENTS in MMORPG, that are both FREE and SUBSCRIPTION BASED, so the player can choose weather or not to see advertisements ever 10 minutes.

MARKET EXPANSION:

At $60 dollars a game, a video game is an extremely high returns item. The number of PC's on the market, VASTLY outnumbers the number of video game consoles. To forward Market expansion, we can look to the PC market in a way which can further utilize big media's advertising channels and partners. I recommended STRONG consideration into SELF BOOTING CD's,. that have their own operating systems, that can be bundles with THE DISNEY NETWORK, or the WARNER NETWORK, and can offer their services, and security, without the need for Windows or MacOS. Anyone who tells you that that this is impossible is lying, operating systems are not that complex at all, especially what would be needed to run the MMORPG, and the TV stations, and Social Network. These free services, would be distributed similar to AOL CD's, and would allow partitioned installs. With these free, extreme quality, serial productions, I feel this would be sufficient to expand the market into the larger TV watching base of customers.

The BIG LIE is that computer software is NOT CHEAP 100% CRAP,. resuable cheap junk that COSTS NOTHING! hahaha,. software is ALL R & D,. and it's ALL BEEN DONE,. my prediction for a LOT of the software industry is to follow suit of ORACLE and take the OS into their own hands,. easily.
