Australian mobile phone carrier Telstra has just announced the upcoming availability of a new set of handsets on its network, and one of them will be the Xperia arc S smartphone from Sony Ericsson.

The new device runs under Google's Android operating system and features support for a wide range of services and applications developed for the platform, including the Facebook inside Xperia from Sony Ericsson.

The handset vendor has packed the new mobile phone with a fast 1.4GHz application processor inside and with support for appealing graphics, as well as with a large a bright touchscreen display, for a great viewing experience while on the go.

“Xperia arc S (launched November 15) is an advanced Android smartphone that’s slim, powerful and gorgeous to hold,” Telstra explains.

“It is built around a visually brilliant 4.2 inch Reality Display that incorporates picture technology previously reserved for Sony BRAVIA TVs.

“Clever picture technology works to reduce image noise, increase sharpness, manage colour and enhance picture contrast – just like on a big screen TV.”

However, these are only some of the features that the new mobile phone arrives on the market with.

It was also packed with 3D sweep panorama mode, as well as with support for HD Voice, with WiFi, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, as well as with a high-quality camera that can record videos in HD resolution.

“Xperia arc S also borrows smarts found in Sony’s camera products with its 8.1 mega-pixel camera (which has HD video capability) using sensors that capture better pictures in low-light conditions,” the wireless carrier explains.

The new mobile phone will go for sale on Telstra’s Freedom Connect Plans starting with mid-November.

The carrier notes that the new handset will be available “on the $59 Freedom Connect Plan (43 Euros/mo) with a mobile repayment option of $10 per month, after using an included MRO Bonus (for eligible customers), for 24 months (min cost is $1,656).”
