Sony Ericsson will soon stop being Sony Ericsson, but the company is expected to continue offering great smartphones to the market, and one of them should pack an HD screen, some of the latest reports on the matter suggest.

Following the release of Xperia arc in January and of Xperia arc S during summer, the handset vendor is expected to come to the market with an Xperia arc HD smartphone, one that would pack a 720p display, just as the name suggests.

Whether sporting this name or another, the said device should still pack the high-resolution display, while running under Google's Android operating system.

Moreover, the handset is expected to become available for purchase with a high-quality photo snapper on the back, with support for full HD 1080p video recording, a recent article on GSMArena notes.

Apparently, the mobile phone will also offer users the possibility to capture still shots while still shooting videos in full HD, which sounds like a great option for enthusiasts, that's for sure.

The upcoming smartphone is also expected to include a fast application processor, though no specific info on the chip has emerged until now.

Chances are that the new device will be unveiled to the world before the end of the ongoing year, and might even come to the market sometime in early 2012.

Provided that Xperia arc HD would indeed arrive on shelves with the aforementioned features, we might expect it to include a dual-core application processor, though it remains to be seen what does Sony Ericsson actually have in store for us.

Some of the previous rumors regarding Sony Ericsson's plans for the mobile suggested that the company was gearing up for the release of their first dual-core device, and the newly rumored handset might be the one and the same phone, though there's no solid proof of that available at the moment.
