Need for Speed Carbon remains downsized

You probably know by now that the PS3 downsizes games designed for 720p mode down to 420p instead of upscaling them to 1080i, when connected to older television sets. Considering that you don't have enough money left to buy a state-of-the-art TV set, once you've bought the expensive PlayStation 3, Sony intended to release a patch to fix this glitch.

I said "intended" because gamedaily.biz spoke to Sony Computer Entertainment Senior Director for Corporate Communications, Dave Karraker, who confirmed that Sony will not develop a patch to fix this issue. But they promise to look into the issue, and hopefully, they will come around, change their minds and release some kind of patch.

IGN previously tested some games meant for 720p, games like Resistance: Fall of Man, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 and Need for Speed Carbon, on older sets, and got confirmation that 720p games are downsized to 480p.

Maybe many of you don't really care about this issue, but consider it a question of principles. On top of paying a lot of money for one of their consoles, Sony forces us to get a HDTV also. Maybe we should, why don't we buy a Sony HDTV? I bet that would suit them just fine!

Considering that Sony is a huuuuge company, developing a patch or an update for this issue wouldn't be that much of a problem for them. They have the money, they have the right people to do the job, why don't they just do it? It would be a nice Christmas present for all Sony fanbois.
