The past couple of months have seen the rise of a fair number of audio products, from sound cards to headsets and in-ear earphones, and Sennheiser just added to this market, only instead of releasing one product it revealed an entire series, the 500 Series to be exact.

With the improvements in multimedia technologies, including encoding and decoding of video and audio files, the sound quality of such files is on a steady rise.

This means that audio solutions must also improve if they are to truly take advantage of these higher-quality files.

Over the past few weeks, high-quality headphones or earphones were released by such companies as Creative, Antec, Logitech and Corsair, among others.

Now, Sennheiser has joined the fray, only with not just one product, but an entire series, the 500, composed of the HD 598, HD 558 and HD 518.

Set to become available later this month, the newcomers are designed with a certain technology called Eargonomic Acoustic Refinement (not ergonomic, eargonomic), or EAR for short.

Apparently, eargonomic acoustic refinement is enabled by several top-tier design and technological elements, such as the top response is of 12 to 38,500 Hertz.

To be more specific, the HD 518 comes with an anthracite finish and a frequency response of 14 to 26,000 Hertz, while the more powerful HD 558 boasts a top response of 28,000 Hertz and uses soft velour ear pads.

Finally, the HD 598, as the best of the three, features cellulose fleece ear cup padding and a frequency response of 12 to 38,500 Hertz.

What's more, all the products are built with neodymium magnets and Duofol diaphragms, as well as gold-plated 6.3mm audio jacks.

According to reports, Sennheiser has also completed the PX 90 and PMX 90 'mini' headphones, which weigh 52g and 68g, respectively, and have frequency responses of 20-22,000 Hertz.

Unfortunately, while all of the devices are set to become available this month, their prices have not yet been mentioned.
