They said they wouldn't last but, so far, Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez have been proving skeptics wrong with their teen romance. In a recent interview, Selena discusses one of the downsides of said relationship: the hate she gets on a constant basis.

Justin Bieber's fans, or the Beliebers as they're called, are known for being very “protective” (for lack of a better word) towards their idol.

Unfortunately, this also means reacting very violently when someone else sweeps into his life and wins over his heart or somehow threatens to cause him torment.

Fortunately, said reaction is mostly verbal but perhaps no one knows better than Selena how much reading spiteful things online can hurt.

In an interview with Baltimore radio station Z104.8, Selena talked a bit about her music and acting career, and, of course, her relationship with the number one teen idol of the moment, Justin Bieber.

The interview is below, embedded at the end of the article.

“It’s a little odd,” she says of how Bieber fans react to her relationship with the singer.

“But I understand it completely. It’s amazing to me to see how many passionate fans there are. You’ve just got to think of the fans first, and that’s OK,” she adds very graciously.

Asked whether she'd like to “share” fans with her boyfriend, Selena admits it would be nice if it could happen but she sees why it can't be.

“Kind of. But it’s kind of cool we have our own individuals,” Selena says.

As we also noted on several other occasions, Selena isn't the only woman in Bieber's life to get hate mail and death threats from fans for her connection with the star.

The first one to experience it was Kim Kardashian, when she uploaded a photo of herself and Justin on her Twitter, hinting their had a fling or something of the sorts.

Fans reacted instantly, wishing her dead for daring to suggest such a thing.

After that, confirmation came that Selena was dating Justin. When photos of the two kissing emerged online, fans were rabid.

However, nothing compared to how they reacted when they learned that Mariah Yeater was telling the world that Bieber was the father of her child. To put it simply, if words could kill, Yeater would probably be long gone.
