South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics has just announced the launch of the bada SDK, providing developers with the necessary tools to start building applications for the company's first mobile operating system. The applications developed using the SDK can be rolled-out and tested on the Samsung Wave, the first handset running under the OS.

According to Samsung, the bada SDK includes a series of components to kick off the development of applications for bada, such as an integrated development environment (IDE), simulator, UI builder, sample applications, documentation and tutorials. At the same time, the company notes that the IDE is built upon Eclipse CDT (C/C++ Development Tools), and that the Simulator delivers a local test environment that eliminates the need of having a bada-based handset.

“The bada platform allows developers to create feature-rich applications that elevate the user experience in mobile spaces. A new UI framework is provided, which supports the next generation Samsung TouchWiz UI. Samsung bada also supports a control for AdobeFlash, a web browser control, motion sensing, fine-tuned vibration control, and face detection, which open up new possibilities for greater creativity and user interactivity,” the mobile phone maker states. The bada platform comes with service-centric features, including social networking, content management, LBS, and commerce services.

Those interested in the bada SDK should head over to the Samsung bada developer website, where they will have to register. The company offers additional resources for bada developers on the said website, including the bada developer guide, bada tutorials, and the bada API reference documentation. Developers will also have the opportunity to communicate with other bada application builders, as well as with bada technician. More features and functionality should soon arrive to Samsung's bada operating system, and the SDK is said to be only the first step for those interested in learning more on bada.

The Samsung bada SDK 1.0.0b2 is available for download from Softpedia too, via this link.
