14 DAY TRIAL // Last year, South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung announced the launch of a new mobile operating system, bada, which should land on the market on the company's Wave smartphone. The handset vendor brought to light a wide range of features bada comes with, and recently unveiled the fact that the OS has been developed with a great focus on support for services.
Today's smartphones come with enhanced support for a great deal of applications and various services available for users, including fast and easy access to social networking sites like Facebook or Twitter, and Samsung's bada platform was designed with this functionality in mind, the company states. Moreover, it seems that bada will arrive with support for local social networking sites too, and that Samsung is looking out for partners in the area.
“Samsung bada is committed to be a service oriented platform. In other words, bada is the one that talks to various services, not the applications. Developers are free from having to learn how to bind services with their applications in service-specific manner. What you need to do as a developer is to simply use the services in the bada API, then bada automagically does all the work on behalf of you. Moreover, our bada development team has optimized service-to-bada platform connections, thereby ensuring a better user-experience in terms of performance and reliability,” Samsung states in a post on the bada blog.
The mobile phone maker explains that the great service integration is delivered through the bada server. The company invested a great amount of resources into the building of this server, and designed a rich, developer-friendly environment and support system for bada application builders. The handset vendor plans on showing that bada can become a pioneering service oriented platform through offering an improved experience to users, by offering a simple development process and delivering increased revenues to service providers.
