14 DAY TRIAL // Samsung has just announced the availability of its Samsung Messager III (SCH-r570) through the Metro PCS carrier. As the name suggests, Samsung Messager III is the successor of the Messager and Messager II, and comes with a full horizontal-slideout QWERTY keyboard.
Targeting texters, the feature-phone has a sleek slider form factor and offers users messaging-oriented features such as T9 predictive text and threaded text messaging capabilities.
The handset is equipped with a QVGA TFT 2.4-inch display screen, built-in music player, 3.5 mm headset jack, loudspeaker and Stereo Bluetooth technology.
It also packs a sub-par 1.3 megapixel camera, as well as widget support and integrated social networking service.
The slider measures 116.6 x 53.5 x 14.95mm and weighs 105g (battery included), which make it pretty pocket sized.
Other basic features of the entry level phone include: “One-, Two- and Three-Touch dialing”, Multimedia Messaging (MMS), Picture Messaging, Video Messaging, microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 16GB).
The phone's 1140 mAh Li-Ion battery should last for up to 5 hours of talk time or up to 250 hours in standby.
Samsung Messager III comes with MetroPCS's Metro 411 Directory Assistance application. The software provides business and residential listings directly to the phone.
Users only need to type in their request and they will receive in a short time their phone numbers, maps, directions, or even a list of nearby businesses.
Obviously the gadget is CDMA (1x800 MHz/1900 MHz) compatible.
Those that are not that excited about getting a contract with Metro PCS can also get the newly announced Samsung Messager III (SCH-r570) from Sprint, as the device has been a part of the carrier's offering for quite some time, but under a different name, Samsung Restore m570.
Neither Samsung nor MetroPCS have disclosed the price of the handset yet, but the slider should appear on the carrier's website very soon.
