Samsung Star, Samsung Star 3G and Samsung BEAT DJ

Korean mobile phone maker Samsung has recently introduced on the Indian market a series of new full-screen touch phones, including the Samsung Star and Samsung Star 3Gm, as well as the Samsung BEAT DJ, a device that has been unveiled at the MWC show earlier this year, and which is targeted at music enthusiasts, as it comes with the company's intuitive DISC User Interface, while also sporting Bang & Olufsen audio technology.

According to the company, the new phones are aimed at customers who seek full-touch functionality at affordable prices. All of the handsets come with a compact design and intuitive usability, while including a wide range of multimedia features and large touch-enabled displays, and being able to strengthen the company's portfolio of full-touch devices.

“Samsung Star and Samsung Star 3G are significant additions to our full-touch screen mobile portfolio, featuring all the essential functions in one single device. At Samsung, our effort is to deliver various full touch products for every consumer lifestyle,” said Sunil Dutt, country head, Samsung Mobile Division.

Among the capabilities of the Samsung Star (or S5233), we can count a 3.0-inch WQVGA full-touch screen, the TouchWiz User Interface with Mobile Widgets, accelerometer, a 3.2-megapixel camera that features smile recognition, Shazam’s “Find Music” service, 50MB of internal memory and a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 8GB of additional storage space, as well as support for a wide range of Google applications, such as Google Search, Gmail, and Google maps.

The Samsung Star 3G (S5603) includes full Internet browsing capabilities, accelerometer sensor, 3G connectivity, as its name suggests, Gesture Control, a 3.2-megapixel photo snapper that sports Power LED Flash, 80MB of internal memory and a memory card slot for additional storage space of up to 8GB.

Samsung BEAT DJ, as stated above, is aimed mainly at music enthusiasts. “Samsung BEAT DJ is designed to take music on mobile phones to a whole new level of quality and exciting user experience. With amazing sound quality and advanced music application, the BEAT DJ will appeal to a growing base of consumers who want to consolidate their music playing devices without compromising on style, function and experience,” Dutt said.

The handset includes a 2.8-inch AMOLED touchscreen display that offers a 240 x 400 pixel resolution and support for up to 16 million colors, accelerometer, a 3-megapixel camera with auto-focus Geo-tagging, Smile Shot and Face Detection, GPS with A-GPS, Bluetooth capabilities, as well as HSDPA and EDGE connectivity, DivX, XviD, WMV, MP4 playback support, a 3.5mm slot, FM radio, 50MB of internal memory, and a memory card slot for additional storage space.

According to Samsung, the new S5233, S5603 and Beat DJ are available in India for Rs. 11,100, Rs. 14,499 and Rs. 18,990, respectively.
