With Android but no Google search

One of the Android-based mobile phones that will soon become available for purchase on China Unicom's airwaves is the Samsung Galaxy i6500U, which is said to be already put on a pre-order status through online retailer 360buy.com. The new device, which is also known as the Samsung Saturn, will soon arrive in the Chinese market, it seems, and users will be able to purchase it both from the wireless carrier and from the retailer, which is the official partner for the launch.

Interestingly enough, it seems that the new device won't come with Google search on it, even if it is based on the Internet giant's mobile operating system, following the recent dispute between the company and the Chinese government. This is not the first Android-based device to arrive in China this way, and certainly won't be the last one either, but the good news is that Chinese mobile phone users won't be deprived of the pleasure of enjoying the appealing mobile platform, even if Google search and Google apps are not included in the package.

The new Galaxy i6500U/Saturn still has a lot of features to offer to mobile phone users in China, starting with the 3.2-inch AMOLED touchscreen display it includes and continuing with the 800MHz processor it has been packed inside with. The new handset also comes with a 3.2-megapixel photo snapper, as well as with a wide range of connectivity options, including HSDPA support, Bluetooth 2.1 or USB 2.0.

At the same time, the new China-bound Android mobile phone is said to include a GPS receiver too, as well as FM Radio, Handwriting recognition, a 1,500mAh battery, or a microSD memory card slot with support for additional storage space. “Samsung Galaxy I6500U will refresh users' Internet surfing experience by bringing the mainstream websites within the reach of users conveniently,” said an executive for China Unicom. “The device has a browser bookmark preinstalled with some popular online information platforms and applications.”
