South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics and various Canadian wireless carriers have just started to deliver the Android 2.2 Froyo software update for the Galaxy S devices in the country.

Among the mobile phone carriers which started to make the move, we can count bell, which reportedly debuted the newer OS version for its users on Thursday.

Today, two other carriers joined Bell in deploying the update, namely Virgin and SaskTel, both of which already made official announcements on this.

As in other markets around the world, users of a Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant, Samsung Galaxy S Captivate or a Samsung Galaxy S Fascinate in Canada would be able to download and install the new software solution on their devices through the Samsung Kies desktop application.

Before proceeding with the update, users should back up all data on their mobile phones (contacts, calendar, photos and other files), so as to make sure that no important personal data is lost during the process.

“Please note that Samsung Kies does not automatically back up your data (contacts, calendar, photos and other files). Please back up all of your important information manually before proceeding with the update below, or your data will be lost,” Bell notes on its website.

Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant owners on Bell's airwaves would find all of the necessary details on how to apply the update on the wireless carrier's support website here.

As for Virgin and SaskTel customers interested in downloading and applying the new software upgrade, they should be able to learn more on the matter on Samsung's website here.

“We are pleased to announce Froyo is now available for the Galaxy S Vibrant devices from Bell, Virgin Mobile and SaskTel,” the mobile phone maker announced officially on Twitter.

On the company's website, one can read the following: “If you are an owner of a Samsung GalaxyS Captivate (SGH-i896) or Samsung GalaxyS Fascinate 3G+ (SGH-T959), the upgrade software for these phones is currently being tested and we are working on a release for later in December 2010.”

Since the update is being performed via Samsung Kies, users might want to download the latest version of the application, available on Softpedia too, here.
