South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics has announced that its new flagship Android-based device, the Samsung Galaxy S II, will arrive on the market in Romania during the second half of the next month.

The mobile will be launched worldwide in late April, but it would arrive only in some countries at that time, while set to be gradually rolled-out to other markets in May and beyond.

Samsung already said that Galaxy S II would be launched only in late-April, but did not offer specific info on why the phone did not land earlier, as was initially expected.

Today, Samsung Romania confirmed the availability of the device on the local market starting with May, but did not offer specific info on the launch day, nor on the price tag the device might feature.

However, they did confirm that Samsung plans on providing such details separately on each market.

As soon as info on Samsung releasing the new device a bit later than initially planned surfaced, various rumors on what might have caused the delay were also spotted.

Some of them suggested that the handset vendor might plan upgrading the dual-core application processor inside this device from 1GHz to 1.2GHz.

This would be the Samsung Galaxy S II model packing a Hummingbird CPU from Samsung themselves, and not the Tegra 2-based handset version that was spotted back in February.

While nothing was officially confirmed on this for the time being, we do know that the device would arrive on shelves with a large 4.27-inch touchscreen display boasting a WVGA resolution, or with 16GB of internal memory packed inside.

Moreover, the handset sports an 8MP photo snapper on the back, with auto focus and HD video recording capabilities, a 1.3-megapixel front-facing webcam, support for 3G, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, built-in GPS receiver, and more.

The Samsung Galaxy S II is powered by Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, the latest platform version the company delivered for mobile phones.
