Samsung's Android-powered flagship smartphone is preparing to take on North America, as many carriers have already confirmed the release date of the device.

After Bell and Virgin Mobile have already launched the smartphone in Canada, another Canadian carrier has just announced that it will release the Galaxy S II 4G this Friday.

Regional carrier Sasktel tweeted the information a few hours ago, thus confirming the launch of the Galaxy S II 4G on July 22:

The Samsung Galaxy S II 4G will be available from SaskTel starting Friday! Call your favourite store or dealer for availability.”

Unfortunately, there is no information regarding the phone's price yet, but rumors suggest that SaskTel might retail the Galaxy S II 4G for the same price as its Bell and Virgin Mobile rivals, $169.99 with a new contract.

However, the carrier announced a while back that the Galaxy S II 4G will be available for only $79 with a new contract, but there's no recent confirmation of the price.

All in all, Samsung Galaxy S II 4G suggested retail price will be the same for all Canadian carriers, which means that customers who wish to avoid being tied down by a long-term contract will have to pay $599 outright.

SaskTel's Galaxy S II will be delivered with a dual-core CPU clocked at 1.2GHz and manufactured by either NVIDIA or Samsung, which is also including its Exynos processor with some Galaxy S II devices.

Furthermore, the smartphone is powered by Samsung's next-generation TouchWiz UX technology along with Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform.

The smartphone offers users HSPA+ connectivity that provides data transfers of up to 21Mbps, as well as HSUPA (5.76 Mbps).

In addition, the handset boasts a superior 8-megapixel camera and camcorder with 1080p full HD recording and playback, and a secondary 2.0-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls.

The phone's large 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus capacitive touch screen display is based on Samsung's latest mobile display technology and is covered by Gorilla Glass to protect it from scratches.
