Mobile phone carrier Sprint is moving closer to the release of a new 4G Android-based device, the Samsung Epic 4G, and the latest move the company made in this direction was the launch of a teaser site for the phone. No official details on when the handset might actually arrive were unveiled, but previous rumors suggested that late August might be the lucky time frame, and the emergence of this website might be seen as a proof of that rumor becoming reality.

Sprint seems set offer its users some very appealing 4G capable handsets, in an attempt to attract as many users as possible to its 4G services. The HTC EVO 4G is one handset that appeals a lot to users, and the upcoming Samsung Epic 4G is expected to easily prove the same, especially since it comes with a physical QWERTY included into the mix.

According to Sprint, the features list of the new device would include: - Instantly download eBooks from Skiff, Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Kobo - Future access to the Samsung Media Hub, a full library of video and literary content powered by some of the biggest names in entertainment (coming soon) - Qik video application for video chat service and live video sharing - Samsung Social Hub integrates all of the user's social networking services, messages, personal and business email, calendars and contacts - Samsung's exclusive AllShare service to wirelessly share stored music, pictures and HD video to other DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) Certified home electronics, including HDTVs, monitors, digital cameras, printers and more

The specifications list of the mobile phone is as appealing as it can be too. The phone comes with a 1GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird processor, a 4-inch Super AMOLED capacitive display, a 5-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus, Power LED flash and 720p 30fps HD video recording capabilities, complemented by a front-facing VGA camera, 3G/4G capability, 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot capability, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n) connectivity, Six-axis motion sensor, and a 1500mAh Lithium (Li-on) battery.

The Samsung Epic 4G should land on shelves with Google's Android 2.1 OS on board. It can offer access to the Android Market, while its microSD memory card slot can offer support for up to 32GB of additional storage space (a 16GB card included in the package).
