14 DAY TRIAL // Samsung Epic 4G official launch might be just around the corner, according to the guys over Android Police website. If their theory proves to be true, the smartphone should be available at the end of August from Sprint operator. Not long ago, Samsung posted video presentations of two of its flagship devices, Samsung Captivate and Vibrant, with posting dates that seem to coincide with the official launch date of these devices.
The video presenting Samsung Captivate was posted on July 19th, while the smartphone was launched one day earlier, on July 18th. The Samsung Vibrant video was posted on July 21st, while the Android-based phone was officially released on 15th July. Even though if it might seem strange, the latter date was actually the result of Sprint's decision to move the launch date, so it could coincide with Droid X release.
The same official Samsung website is now showing that a Samsung Epic 4G presentation video is scheduled 20th August. Taking into consideration the facts described above, we can easily assume that the smartphone should be released around that date, if nothing else happens. And to confirm the forthcoming launch of Samsung Epic 4G, a tweet post from SamsungMobileUS claims that “the Sprint Epic 4G is arriving in a few weeks.”
For those that are out of the loop, Epic 4G, also known as Samsung Galaxy S Pro, is a CDMA compatible smartphone, that comes with a 4.0-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen displaying 16M colors (480x800 pixels resolution), full QWERTY keyboard, TouchWiz 3.0 UI, multi-touch input method, accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate, touch-sensitive controls, proximity sensor for auto turn-off, Swype text input.
Other highlights of the phone includes: Android 2.1 (Eclair), ARM Cortex A8 1GHz processor, 512 MB RAM, 512 MB ROM, microSD (up to 32GB), Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n (WiMAX), 5-megapixels camera with LED flash, GPS with A-GPS support, Digital compass.
