Coming soon on Sprint

The official Samsung Epic 4G specs have re-emerged and brings the device even closer to its presumable launch date around 20th August. Coming on Sprint, this is the second 4G capable smartphone from the operator and Samsung's first 4G Android-powered device. Its data sheet reveals that Epic 4G will have access to the Samsung Media Hub, making it the first 4G handset to feature a video store with movies and TV available for purchase or rental.

Samsung Epic 4G is powered by a Samsung 1GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird processor and runs on an Android 2.1 (Eclair) platform. It boasts a 4.0-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16M colors (480 x 800 pixels resolution), QWERTY keyboard, TouchWiz 3.0 UI, multi-touch input method, accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate, touch-sensitive controls, proximity sensor for auto turn-off, six-axis motion sensor, light sensor, Swype text input.

The smartphone comes with Sprint's services: Football Live, Navigation Sprint TV, and NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile. The Qik video application for video chat and live video sharing is also included.

Other key features of the device include: 512MB RAM and 1GB ROM, microSD card slot (up to 32GB, 16GB memory card included), 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and 3x digital zoom for HD video (720) recording, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, WiMAX, GPS with A-GPS support, 3.5mm jack port, and of course 4G capability.

The handset is compatible with Samsung's exclusive AllShare service, that enables users to wirelessly share stored music, pictures and HD videos to other DLNA certified home electronics (HDTVs, monitors, digital cameras, printers and more).

Even though this seems to be the official data sheet, certain features, services, and specifications can be subject to changes. There's still no information about the smartphone's price yet.
