Wireless carrier Sprint launched on Tuesday its second mobile phone that packs support for 4G networks, namely the Samsung Epic 4G, and announced that the handset marked one of the best first-day sales.

According to the wireless carrier, the high-end features that Samsung packed inside this handset helped it become one of the best selling mobile phones at Sprint during its first day of availability.

Unlike other Galaxy S models that went on sale in the United States market during the ongoing year, the Samsung Epic 4G comes with a sliding QWERTY keyboard, while offering support for 4G networks.

Moreover, the device sports a brilliant Super AMOLED touch-screen, which is complemented by a fast processor, and by two cameras, one of which is placed on the front, so as to enable video calling.

“We're very excited by the customer response to Samsung Epic 4G and the capabilities of our 4G network,” said Fared Adib, vice president of product development for Sprint.

Samsung Epic 4G is a terrific smartphone that delivers the promise of the Sprint 4G network. As we continue to build out our 4G network, more and more of our customers will realize the benefits of these amazing devices and the realities of life at these blazing-fast speeds.”

According to Sprint, the launch of Epic 4G marked a historic moment in its evolution towards 4G.

HTC EVO 4G, the first 4G capable device it put on sale on its airwaves, registered strong sales starting with the first day of availability, and it seems that the new smartphone managed to follow its steps.

However, these are not the only 4G-capable devices the carrier offers to its users.

“In addition to two award-winning Android phones, Sprint offers Overdrive 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot, enabling 4G connectivity for up to five Wi-Fi-enabled devices, as well as five Sprint mobile broadband devices that can access Sprint 4G data speeds,” the wireless carrier announced.

Samsung Epic 4G can be purchased via all Sprint retail channels and national retail partners, RadioShack, Best Buy and Walmart for $249.99 on a two-year contract agreement after a $100 mail-in rebate.

Article reads like a commercial from Sprint, not an objective evaluation.
