Although not available for purchase as of yet, the Samsung Epic 4G, Sprint's second Android-based handset to pack WiMAX capabilities inside, has already seen its first price cut.

Set to be released on the market on August 31, 2010, the new device was made available for pre-order at Sprint a few weeks ago, and is listed on a pre-order status on Amazon too, where it features a smaller price tang than at Sprint.

Those interested in getting the smartphone from Amazon and not from Sprint would have to pay only $199 for it upon the signing of a two-year contract agreement with the carrier.

Compared to what Sprint plans on asking for the handset, Amazon offers it for $50 less. The full retail price tag for this device has been set at $599.99.

All in all, it seems that Amazon has the best current offers for the Android-based Galaxy S models in the United States.

Recently, the retailer slashed the price tag for T-Mobile's Samsung Vibrant to $0.01, and did the same with AT&T's Captivate a few days ago.

When it comes to Samsung Epic 4G, the company says that it should start shipping on August 31, though chances are that no all users would get it that day.

With a wide range of people pre-ordering the phone, certain stock constrains are expected to be experienced, something that we've seen lately with DROID handsets over at Verizon Wireless.

“The new Samsung Epic from Sprint is now available for pre-order and should begin shipping on August 31, 2010. Due to demand for this device, you may experience a slight shipping delay,” the retailer notes on its website.

Of course, we'll have to wait for the launch day to arrive to see how things are turning out.

However, based on the huge success the Samsung Galaxy S registers in South Korea, as well as on other markets around the world, there are great chances that the first stock issues with its would emerge on August 31st.
