Wireless carrier Verizon Wireless is reportedly gearing up for the launch of a new Android-based mobile phone from Samsung, one that would deliver a better performance level than what the Samsung Fascinate can offer at the moment, namely the Samsung SCH-i400 Continuum.

The main feature of this device should be the addition of a secondary OLED display just below the main touch screen.

In case this sounds interesting enough, you should have a look at the purported photos with the device, which emerged over at Engadget, accompanied by a series of possible specifications on this behemoth.

For starters, we should note that the rumored SCH-i400 Continuum's second display is called Ticker, and was meant to display a variety of notifications, along with RSS updates and, most probably, weather updates too, at least this is what can be seen in the photo to the left.

Moreover, it seems that the Ticker was designed so as to light up automatically as soon as one grabs the bottom of the phone.

Another appealing feature of the new mobile phone should be the fact that it would offer users the possibility to access basic phone features without having to get through all the usual menus, or having to have the big screen turned on.

Most probably, this would offer increased battery times, as well as increased ease of usage, which should sound very attractive to Big Red's users.

Among the other features if the handset, we can count a microSD memory card slot that would be accessible without having to remove the battery, as well as a dedicated camera button.

The guys over at Engadget also suggest that the new mobile phone might arrive on shelves with Galaxy S branding, though this hasn't been confirmed for the time being.

All in all, it appears that Verizon might soon make available for purchase on its airwaves a new high-end Android-based smartphone, just as it got us accustomed before.
