The device should be released soon

AT&T is getting ready to offer a new Samsung handset for all its American customers in need of affordable devices. The phone we're talking about is Samsung A237 (or SGH-A237) and, since it's an affordable one, it does not come with too many features. As a matter of fact, its official specs are completely missing for the moment, together with details about its price and release date.

Anyway, there are some pictures of A237, so we can see that it is a clamshell which resembles lots of other previously-launched Samsung flip phones. There is a small display in the handset's interior, plus a smaller one on the outside, but the resolution and number of colors are not known. Furthermore, the phone's external case also shows a photo camera, which probably doesn't have more than 1.3 Megapixels.

Besides the camera and the ordinary design, Samsung A237 should also bring Bluetooth, Music player, GSM connectivity with GPRS and EDGE, a small internal memory and, hopefully, a microSD card slot.

If Samsung A237 has somehow made you consider buying it, expect AT&T to launch it sometime this month (or maybe even later), in two colors (red and blue), for a price that will surely be on the low side. The clamshell will probably be released without an official announcement, as most of the entry-level handsets.

Being the largest mobile carrier in North America, AT&T is no stranger to South Korean-made phones (since they're well-sold across the continent). The operator's line-up of Samsung devices currently includes the following models: Samsung A227, Samsung A727, Samsung A737, Samsung A717, Samsung A437, Samsung Access, Samsung SLM and, of course, the BlackJack II smartphone (available as of last month in no less than four color versions: black, red, pink and light blue).
