Two new colors for AT&T's popular smartphone

Although lots of AT&T's customers are waiting for the release of Samsung BlackJack III, the largest US carrier has decided to offer the "old" Samsung BlackJack II smartphone in two new color versions: pink and blue.

The new BlackJack II handsets are not fully dressed in pink and blue respectively. Only their back cases and their keys are touched by these colors, the rest (meaning the front case) being covered in white.

Of course, besides the unexpected change of look, the new smartphones don't bring any novelties - although an upgrade to Windows Mobile 6.1 would surely be welcomed.

Anyway, even if it still runs on Windows Mobile 6.0, the BlackJack II is a pretty cool smartphone. Its features include: a 2.4 inch display with 320 x 240 pixels and 65K colors, a full QWERTY keypad, quad-band GSM connectivity and tri-band HSDPA connectivity (for fast data transfer speeds and a good Web browsing experience), built-in GPS, mobile TV capabilities, Audio and Video players, Bluetooth 2.0, full HTML browser, RSS Reader, email, Instant Messaging, document viewer and editor, Mobile Backup support, organizer, handsfree, a 2 Megapixel camera with video recording, USB 2.0 and microSD card support (up to 4GB).

Measuring 4.4 x 2.3 x 0.4 inches and weighing 3.52 ounces, Samsung BlackJack II packs a battery capable of providing up to 7 hours of talk-time and up to 14 days of stand-by time.

Both the pink and the blue BlackJack II smartphones are offered by AT&T for the same price as the already existing red and black versions. And if you're wondering what price that is, it's $99 with a contract agreement for two years, or $349 free of contract. The only question that remains unanswered is why didn't AT&T name the new smartphones Samsung PinkJack and Samsung BlueJack?
