Leading mobile applications and games developer SPB Software, announced on Monday at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona the launch of a new version of its highly-popular SPB Mobile Shell, namely SPB Mobile Shell 5.0. According to the company, the new software solution comes as a great upgrade over the previous versions.

“Unlike all the previous versions of SPB Mobile Shell available exclusively for Windows Mobile smartphones with touchscreens, version 5.0 is to be released for Android, Windows Mobile and Symbian. Thanks to the new portable SPB UI Engine, SPB Mobile Shell is planned to be spread to more mobile platforms,” the company notes.

Among the major updates that the new flavor of the application comes around with, we can count a new 3D engine, as well as improved social networking integration. According to SPB Software, the 3D engine means that users will be able to enjoy 3D Media Player, 3D Photo Viewer, 3D Weather, dynamic 3D widgets and more, while the social networking features include message, contacts, photo and status sync with Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.

The features list of the new SPB Mobile Shell 5.0 includes: - New 3D engine - Natural Interaction Engine - 3D widgets - Tight integration with Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and other social networks - SPB UI Builder 2.0 - Multi-platform support: Android, Windows Mobile, Symbian

Other improvements that the new application version brings around is the Natural Interaction Engine, which sports support for G-sensor and multitouch, as well as a dedicated Feedback Engine and a Physics Engine. The solution is already available on various devices from leading handset vendors in the world, and the company says that it has simplified the integration process through the addition of SPB UI Builder 2.0, which enables the customization of SPB Mobile Shell and other applications. “It includes APIs for pluggable components, the skin builder and a set of plug-ins for integration with industry strength design products such as 3DMAX and Microsoft Expression Blend,” the company adds.
