Leading mobile software solutions developer and provider SPB Software announced on Thursday that SPB TV, one of its most sophisticated solutions, has just been licensed to become a part of StarHub TV on Mobile, a mobile television service from a major Singaporian cellular network operator. According to the company, the license has been received not only by the client-side application, but the server-side software which is installed and integrated with the operator's billing system has been also included in the deal.

Following the new agreement, StarHub is set to deliver 24 TV channels in demand (including CNN, BBC and Bloomberg) to its users, while also providing them with great picture quality and with a series of features like picture-in-picture, integrated TV guide, fast channel switching and more. According to the duo, the new solution is available at the moment on Windows Mobile, BlackBerry and Android-based smartphones, but Symbian-based Nokia phones and Apple's iPhone should also enjoy it soon.

“Working closely with award-winning software developer SPB, we have empowered our mobile TV customers with the ability to better control their mobile TV viewing with a user-friendly interface and powerful features,” says Mr. Chan Kin Hung, StarHub’s head of Products and Solutions. “With 24 cable TV channels on mobile, it is important for us to make TV-viewing on mobile as simple as that on television for customers... In a way, we are putting [together] the best of both worlds – rich cable TV content and mobile convenience.”

According to SPB Software, this is the second joint project through which SPB TV receives implementation with a major cellular carrier, following the previous agreement with the Russian operator SkyLink. At the same time, the company also revealed that it planned on announcing similar projects in the following months. The new launch has received support from a series of handset vendors, including Acer, HTC, LG, Motorola, RIM, Samsung and Sony Ericsson.
