Running under Google's Android operating system, the new smartphone comes with a scratch-resistant touch screen display, while being water resistant and dust proof.

The new mobile phone comes to the market with a large 3.7-inch touchscreen display that delivers a WVGA resolution and which cam provide edge-to-edge views of websites, photos and videos, the handset vendor announced.

In addition to being able to withstand rain showers or drops in the sand, the new Android-based mobile phone comes to the market with CrystalTalk PLUS technology, aimed at filtering out background noise and amplifying user's voice when in noisy environments, courtesy of its two microphones.

“DEFY is essentially a connection hub wrapped in a layer of protection,” said Paul Cole, vice president, product management, T-Mobile USA. “The unique and innovative form-factor of the DEFY provides you with the confidence to truly take your phone anywhere.”

The features list of the new device includes an Adobe Flash Lite-enabled Web browser, aimed at enhancing the experience one can get from the device.

“DEFY is designed to handle everything that life throws your way,” said Bill Ogle chief marketing officer, Motorola Mobility, Inc.

The only comment I can think of is why T-Mobile. Out of the major wireless providers, why did Motorola pick T-mobile. I love Motorola products, in fact it's the only brand of cell phone I have ever owned. In 20 years i have had 4 cell phones and yes they were all motorola's, it's too bad T-mobile's coverege does not work inside the building where I work.
