The Nintendo Wii took the entire gaming industry to a whole new level when it unveiled motion-sensitive controllers capable of reenacting the player's movements to a certain extent on the TV connected to the console. When it was first released, there were a lot of titles that appeared but they were highly criticized for the fact that they didn't implement the controls as they should have.

Ubisoft's Red Steel was one of them, as it promised precise sword fighting and gun play for any user, no matter his level of expertise. Now, the sequel to the game aims at fixing all of the original's problems, and will feature full support for the highly anticipated Wii MotionPlus add-on to the Wii Remote, which will deliver 1:1 recreation of any movement.

However, when Ubisoft announced this support, gamers thought that it would support both normal Wii Remotes and those with the add-on, but it seems that it will take a “huge risk” and will only be able to work with the MotionPlus attachment, according to the creative director of the game Jason Vandenberghe.

“It’s a huge risk. We have no idea what the penetration rate for Wii MotionPlus will be. We assume high. We would like it to be high. I would love to say to you that it’ll be compatible with just a regular controller, but the gameplay simply isn’t there without MotionPlus. That core experience just isn’t there without it.”

Even though support for only the MotionPlus add-on seems like a gamble, let's not forget that it will be bundled with one of the most highly anticipated titles of this summer for the console, Wii Sports Resort, which will surely sell by the millions until Red Steel 2 is launched at the end of this year.
