So says EA Sports president

Gaming has always been considered a hobby for lazy people who don't want to get off their couches or chairs and move around, preferring to do so in the virtual world than the in the real one. But once the Nintendo Wii appeared, introducing never before seen motion sensitive controls, a lot of gamers got off the couch and started moving in front of the TV.

However, after the hype settled down, people began to do the same, realizing that you can flick the Wii remote while sitting down, not necessarily standing up in front of the screen. But such a thing will change, at least according to EA Sports President Peter Moore, once the Wii MotionPlus feature will be launched.

He recently talked with SportingNews and revealed that once the Japanese company will release the controller add-on, which will simply pop into the back of the normal Wii Remote, gamers will definitely need to start moving in order to recreate the moves they want their character to do on screen.

“If you think about the normal movement you get with the Wii remote, you know you can sit on your couch and flick your wrist and you get the same reaction as if you stand up and do a full swing playing golf or tennis,” said Moore. “What the Wii MotionPlus allows you to do is do a true authentic sports motion. When you swing the racquet and you bring it back for an overhead lob or smash, then that is reflected.”

The fact that the new peripheral will allow precise 1:1 scale moves to be recreated on the screen might be a very good thing. Let's not forget that EA Sports has already announced that two of its summer titles will feature support for the new peripheral. Hopefully, this will make couch potatoes leave their beloved sofa once more.
